MANALAPAN — Police are investigating an allegation that an associate of famed boxing promoter Don King raped a 13-year-old girl earlier this month at King's oceanfront estate in Manalapan.

The Lantana girl told police she ran away from home Feb. 11 and was picked up in Lantana by a man driving a Chevrolet Suburban that turned out to be owned by King.

She claimed the man took her to a guest house on King's Manalapan property at 900 S. Ocean Blvd. and persuaded her to have sex, according to a Lantana police report.

Questioned by police, the man admitted he had brought her to King's estate but denied having sexual contact with her.

A physical examination of the girl indicated she had recently been sexually abused, the report said.

The man told police he was staying at King's residence in Manalapan to help former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson get into boxing again.

He admitted to police that he had been arrested before on charges of having sex with a minor, the report said.

Manalapan Police Chief Clay Walker said investigators are waiting for the results of DNA tests before deciding whether to press charges.
