6:30 p.m. | Updated Production of “Two and a Half Men” will be “temporarily suspended” while Charlie Sheen is in rehabilitation, according to a joint statement from Warner Brothers, CBS and Chuck Lorre, the show’s executive producer.

“CBS, Warner Brothers Television and Chuck Lorre support Charlie Sheen in his decision today to begin voluntary in-patient care at a treatment center,” the statement said. “We wish him nothing but the best as he deals with this personal matter.”

Original Post: Charlie Sheen, the star of television’s most-popular sitcom, “Two and Half Men,” entered a rehabilitation facility, his spokesman said Tuesday afternoon.

Calling the time in rehabilitation a “preventative measure,” the spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, said in a statement that Mr. Sheen “will take some time off” from the series, but he did not comment on the length of time or the kind of rehabilitation Mr. Sheen is undergoing.

This month Mr. Sheen was charged with felony menacing after a Christmas Day dispute with his wife, the actress Brooke Mueller. Warner Brothers., which produces “Two and a Half Men,” had no immediate comment about how the show’s production schedule would be affected by Mr. Sheen’s absence. “Two and a Half Men” is the cornerstone of CBS’s Monday-night comedy lineup and averages about 16 million viewers a week.
