My Recommendation: Horror flick “The Crazies” only average

Friday, March 19, 2010 By Macy Morgan
Last Friday, I decided I had some time to kill and sat in on “The Crazies,” a supposedly scary, sci-fi film released to theaters about two weeks ago.

Directed by Breck Eisner and featuring actors Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell as the lead protagonists, the film follows David and Judy Dutton, a husband-wife team of a town sheriff and doctor respectively in a small Iowa town.

After a midnight call to duty, Sheriff Dutton drives to the home of a local resident set on fire by the man of the house –— with his family locked inside.

Having witnessed the first victim of a military operation gone wrong, the sheriff begins to see more and more of the town’s citizens going crazy.

U.S. officers start to round up anyone suspected of contracting the airborne disease as many, including the Duttons, try to escape unaffected.

As most zombie flicks entail, there was much gore and startling moments, however, the storyline was a little unoriginal and predictable.

For this reason, I have to give “The Crazies” a mere “C.” But if you’re looking for a cheesy re-up of a 1970s typical zombie movie, this could be your day.

I went to go see this move the other day and was really impressed with it. The movie was not as scary as I thought it would be.
